Parts of the Jane Addams Tollway (I-90) in the northwest suburbs were shut down early Monday morning after a multi-vehicle crash, with a semi pushed a car into an EMS worker and a detour in place with traffic building.
The crash, which stemmed from an earlier traffic crash, took place about 1:56 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-90 at milepost 61 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois State Police said.
According to ISP, a private ambulance was on the scene with workers responding to an earlier vehicle crash when a semi struck the vehicle involved. The semi then rolled onto its side, ISP said, pushing the vehicle from the earlier crash into an EMS worker.
The EMS worker and the driver of the semi were transported to nearby hospitals with injuries, ISP said.
Photos and video from the scene showed all westbound lanes at I-90 and Barrington Road shut down, with a semi truck rolled onto its side and a passenger vehicle with extensive damage.
As of 6 a.m., the Illinois State Police and the Illinois Tollway Authority remained on the scene, with all westbound lanes shut down and traffic diverted to Barrington Road, and an onlooker delay building.
