During a Senate session on Sunday, Amir discussed two requests concerning the dangers of children’s use of mobile phones and electronic applications.
He added that the council has statistics indicating that approximately 30 million young men and women in Egypt use these two websites, which promote cohabitation for three months.
Amir continued, “They will be permanently blocked because they violate Egyptian traditions.”
He confirmed that the Supreme Council for Media Regulation had decided to block the Roblox platform, and that coordination with the Ministry of Communications was underway to implement the decision.
The decision follows after extensive discussions within the Senate regarding the potential negative effects of the internet, social media, and gaming platforms on young age groups.
The discussions emphasized the challenges related to the potential for children to be exposed to inappropriate content.
The relevant authorities have begun coordinating with the NTRA to implement the ban, as part of regulatory measures aimed at limiting the spread of content that may not align with the educational and moral values of society, and ensuring a safer digital environment for children.
The Senate’s plenary session, chaired by Essam Farid, discussed the dangers of the internet and social media for children, as part of broader efforts to protect youth from the risks associated with certain digital gaming platforms.
