More than 40,000 without power in Denver area

Tens of thousands of Core Electric Cooperative customers lost power across metro Denver on Sunday, according to the utility.

As of 3:35 p.m. Sunday, according to CORE Electric, outages included:

    23,416 customers in Arapahoe County, 20,268 customers in Douglas County, 691 customers in Elbert County, And 1 customer in Adams County.

    The cause of the outages was unknown at that time, and it was unclear when power would be restored. The utility did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
