The Beatles movies first looks see Paul Mescal and co transform into the Fab Four - but how close do they look?

We're still more than four years away from The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinema Experience being released, but already excitement is at fever pitch for the star-studded movies.

Now, for the first time, we've been given a glimpse of what the central four actors - Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Joseph Quinn and Barry Keoghan - will look like as the Fab Four.

The first look came via the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), which was given exclusive postcards promoting the new films and has hidden them around their campus. They have also posted pictures of them on Instagram.

cards each feature a picture of one of the stars in character, revealing who they are playing. For instance, Mescal's reads "Paul Mescal is Paul McCartney".

The films, all four of which are being directed by Sam Mendes, will come from the perspective of a different Beatle, and are set to be released on the same day - 7th April 2028.

Dickinson will be playing John Lennon, Quinn will be playing George Harrison and Keoghan will be playing Ringo Starr.

Other actors set to star across them include Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, James Norton as Brian Epstein, Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey, Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd, Harry Lloyd as George Martin and David Morrissey as Jim McCartney.

Meanwhile, Leanne Best will play Mimi Smith, Bobby Schofield will play Neil Aspinall, Daniel Hoffmann-Gill will play Mal Evans, Arthur Darvill will play Derek Taylor and Adam Pally will play Allen Klein.

With every cast member doing their homework on the history of The Beatles before the release of the new films, star McKenna-Bruce recently admitted that, before filming began, she didn't know any of the quartet.

"On [Agatha Christie's] Seven Dials, Martin [Freeman] was asking me to name all the Beatles – I didn't know," she explained.

She has since filled the gaps in her music knowledge, adding: "Now, I'm like, 'Oh my God, the Beatles are underrated! This is good!' It's music I'd sit and listen to on the train."

The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinema Experience is set to release as a quartet of movies in April 2028.
