SENECA FALLS, N.Y. — A Seneca Falls man, accused of posting threats on social media against a New Year’s Eve celebration, is facing new charges.
Mekhi Russ, 24, was arrested on Tuesday. Seneca Falls Police say he’s facing a “multitude of misdemeanor and felony charges” for his actions on Tuesday and on Wednesday, Jan. 21. His charges include making a terrorist threat, aggravated harassment, attempted assault, criminal mischief, and criminal contempt.
We’re still working to get more details on what’s alleged to have happened. Russ was taken to the Seneca County Correctional Facility pending his arraignment.
Back on Dec. 31, investigators said Russ had threatened to hurt people going to an annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop in Seneca Falls. Investigators also said Russ tried to intimidate a witness in a separate, ongoing criminal matter. He was charged with making a terroristic threat and intimidating a victim or witness.
