ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Governor Kathy Hochul announced the funding availability to expand statewide psychiatric emergency programs and inpatient capacity additions on Monday.
The state Office of Mental Health aims to provide $23 million in development and expansion for new and existing comprehensive psychiatric emergency programs (CPEPs).
An additional $20 million in funding is expected to help increase inpatient capacity at community-based psychiatric hospitals: providing beds, access to timely care, and further abilities to serve children, among other aspects.
“By expanding psychiatric emergency programs and building more inpatient capacity, we can ensure that anyone who experiences a mental health crisis can get the timely, comprehensive care they can rely on to begin their journey toward recovery,” Governor Hochul added.
