It's been over 10 years since the Tedeschi Trucks Band's debut offering, Revolver, won the Grammy for Best Blues Album...and the group is just as beloved as ever.
Led by husband-and-wife team Derek Trucks (formerly of The Allman Brothers Band) and guitarist-singer Susan Tedeschi, the acclaimed band just announced a brand-new studio album, Future Soul, scheduled for release on March 20 from Fantasy Records. This will be their first new music since the four-disc set I Am the Moon, which came out in 2022.
Fans can already listen to the first single from the album, "I Got You," which Trucks called "a breath of fresh air," according to Classic Rock.
"I Got You is a breath of fresh air and pretty different for us," the guitarist said. "It feels like the band, but it doesn’t feel like anything we’ve done before."
And that's not all the Tedeschi Trucks Band has planned for 2026...not by a long shot.
In addition to their previously announced residency at NYC's Beacon Theatre, the Tedeschi Truck Band revealed a massive 2026 tour scheduled to last from spring all the way into the fall, kicking off in Dallas on April 14 and wrapping up with a series of shows in Chicago towards the end of October.
The tour will feature some very special guests, too, including Alabama Shakes, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, and Sheryl Crow playing on select dates, and Lukas Nelson, JJ Grey & Mofro and Molly Tuttle as supporting acts. General ticket sales start on Friday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. local time, but Swamp Family Fan Club members can take advantage of a ticket presale beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 27, also at 10 a.m. local.
Derek Trucks was inspired to form the Tedeschi Trucks Band after watching a famous concert film
As Trucks explained in a 2025 interview with USA Today, he was "ready for a change" when he approached his wife about joining forces in a band.
"When we put our band together, I had talked to Sue. I told her I was ready for a change. I was gonna do something different and I asked if she wanted to jump in with me," he recalled, adding, "One of the stipulations was, 'We can’t keep our bands together. I don’t want to have a safety net. If we’re gonna do this, we need to really do it. If we get out on the road and it’s not great for the first few shows, we’re not gonna cut and run ‘cause we’ve got other things. We’re going to jump in and give this a real go.' And she was like, 'Let’s do it. Now’s the time.'"
"And around that time, we watched the original Mad Dogs concert film," he continued, referring to Joe Cocker and Leon Russell’s 1970 Mad Dogs & Englishmen live album, which Tedeschi Trucks Band later paid tribute to with their own live recorded show.
"We saw that traveling circus and a lightbulb kind of went off. We were like, 'Well, if we’re ever going to do a big band, a rock 'n' roll orchestra, now would be the time. We're wise enough. We've been out here long enough. But we're young enough and dumb enough to do it,'" Trucks quipped.
