90s Rocker Announces Update on First Solo Album 26 Years After Leaving Band

There is only one thing left to do for Kevin Steele, and that is to embark on a solo career.

Steele founded his glam metal band, Roxx Gang, in 1982 along with Eric Carrell, Pete Clauss and Dog Denardin in St. Petersburg, Florida. Through its 18 years as a band, the group went through many lineup changes and record label issues, ultimately resulting in its disbandment in 2000.

Though it's been 26 years since the band broke up, Steele has remained active in the music industry. He created a blues-rock project called The Mojo Gurus in 2004, but now, he's going solo.

Back in December, the singer announced on Facebook that he would be releasing his debut solo album, One Thing Left To Do, on Feb. 27 under Steele Records/Amplified Distribution. On Friday, he released the lead single "Snake Charmer."

In an interview with Brave Worlds that was also released on Friday, Steele spoke with the publication about the creation of this record and his career now. The article also revealed that a second and third single are coming before the full album.

The singer is creating his newest project with guitar player and producer Billy Summer, who has worked with various artists such as Florida, Luxury Mane and The New Brutarians, as well as made scores for various TV shows and movies such as Ted Lasso, The Affair, Chicago Fire and Property Brothers. One Thing Left To Do consists of 10 new tracks and is backed by the best musicians in Tampa Bay.

"Billy and I made such a great team," Steele told Brave Worlds. "Instant connection of the minds. He knew instinctively where I was going musically with each song before I would even tell him. That’s why they call us the Cosmic Twins."

The Mojo Gurus perform for Music City Roots at The Loveless Barn on April 6, 2011, in Nashville, Tennessee.

To celebrate the new record, Steele will be performing at the Bayboro Brewing Company in Saint Petersburg on release night. The show starts at 8 p.m ET and will be supported by Saints of Saturn.

"This is the record I’ve always wanted to make," he admitted. "It’s my first solo record. No compromises. I answered to no one but myself."

"Snake Charmer" is out now on all platforms. One Thing Left To Do will be out on Feb. 27.
