Barry Williams compared his off-camera romance with his Brady Bunch co-star Maureen McCormick to a reality TV dating show. Williams, 71, made the revelation to campmate Matthew Zukowski on a January 2026 episode of I’m a Celebrity…Get me Out of Here! Australia.
“We were the only people we knew and liked and cared about,” Williams recalled of his days as a teen actor on the 1970s sitcom. “I mean, Marcia was the hottest girl on television at the time and cute as could be, and I liked her. We dated.”
In a confessional, Williams explained, “So I dated Marcia Brady, Maureen McCormick, on and off for different times. And we had a great time together. And the rest of the kids all got together, either dating or being very friendly. Bobby and Cindy, the two youngest, Peter and Jan, the two middle kids, and then Greg and Marcia.”
“We were going through this whole thing together,” Williams explained to Zukowski. “And we were together as a television family more than with our own families at times of the year. So we knew each other, we trusted each other, and, you know, we liked each other.”
Williams then cheekily asked Zukowski, who was the runner-up on Love Island Australia Season 2, “Have you ever been to Love Island? Well, it's kind of like that, you know? You look around, and you take in the environment, and you start chatting, and suddenly things are happening."
In a confessional, Zukowski noted he could learn something from Williams and perhaps find his own Marcia.
Williams, who starred on The Brady Bunch from 1969 to 1974 alongside TV siblings McCormick, Christopher Knight, Eve Plumb, Mike Lookinland, and Susan Olsen, previously admitted his feelings for his McCormick were at an all-time high when they filmed a scene in which they were fighting over an attic bedroom. The episode, titled “A Room at the Top,” aired in March 1973 when Williams was 18 years old.
In an interview on the CW’s TV We Love, Williams said, “I remember this scene. I remember the day. [Producer] Lloyd [Schwartz] discovered that there might have been a little bit too much attraction between brother and sister. Maureen McCormick was very, very attractive. I was gravitated right to her. And it was coming out in our scenes together. I’m sitting a little too close, leaning in a little too far," he added. "It’s very hard to hide, that chemistry. Lloyd was on the set, and he pulled me aside. He said, ‘Good scene. I just want you to keep in mind here that she is your sister.’"

Williams previously said he had a recurring romance with McCormick through their five seasons playing brother and sister Greg and Marcia Brady.
Speaking on The Real Brady Bros. podcast, the actor recalled, “It was sort of like on-again, off-again with Maureen and I throughout the years. There was always a little dance being played that was broken up by hiatus.”
He also admitted that he had to hide his emotions when McCormick worked with actors playing her suitors on the ABC sitcom. “When she was pretending to have to be affectionate with other guys and going out on dates and stuff, I liked to just stay out of the way and let her do her job and focus on and concentrate until an episode that called for us to be sitting next to one another,” he said.

McCormick Said the Attraction Was ‘Amazing’
McCormick has also spoken about her teen romance with her Brady brother. In 2008, she told Today that she was smitten with Williams in the early 1970s. “Barry and I were extremely attracted to each other,” McCormick shared. “It was even hard to be in a scene together. I was just dreaming of this romance. I had such an amazing attraction for him. It was awkward to be in scenes playing brother and sister. People started seeing it. Fortunately, it was on-again, off-again. We look at it now and we laugh.”
McCormick has been married to Michael Cummings since 1985, while Williams married Tina Mahina in 2017.
