Just over 20 years since their highly publicized kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards, Britney Spears is taking to social media to praise the iconic music star, Madonna, in a lengthy Instagram post.
Taking to social media on Sunday, the 44-year-old Spears shared an image of the 67-year-old "Like a Virgin" singer at her famous 2003 Steven Klein photo shoot, complete with her eye-catching red headpiece.
“The beast within … I prefer to call it the spiritual animal awakening," Spears wrote in her post. "It’s been a long time for me … I know the wild ones more than anyone !!! Yet, we’re honestly all the same under our mask we secretly wear every day !!! Vulnerability, fragility, insanity, real innocence … but also confusion, depression, extreme hurt, anger … stuck in our heads.”
Continuing on with her discussion of Madonna's mask/headpiece, Spears said, "This picture is clearly an understanding ‘DO NOT P*SS HER OFF’. I admire and look up to Madonna more than anyone … wise, incredibly strong and has remained gentle and genius. Again … DO NOT P*SS HER OFF !!!”
Spear's rampant praise of Madonna comes a few short weeks after the singer addressed whether she'd ever perform in the U.S. on a concert tour again.
Posting an image of herself at a pristine white grand piano, Spears revealed that she planned on gifting the gorgeous instrument to her youngest son, 19-year-old Jayden James Federline.
“Sending this piano to my son this year!!!” Spears wrote. “I will never perform in the U.S. again because of extremely sensitive reasons.”
While Spears doesn't believe she'll perform in the U.S. any time soon, she did hint that she could return to touring overseas, especially if it means being able to play with her son in concert.
“I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son…” she hinted. “In the UK and AUSTRALIA very soon. He’s a huge star and I’m so humbled to be in his presence!!! God speed, little man!!!
