ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — After a heartbreaking end to the season with a loss in Denver in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, the Buffalo Bills are still processing heavy emotions.

Saturday’s 33-30 loss in overtime marks the seventh straight year that the Bills have fallen short in the playoffs of their goal of making it to the Super Bowl. Bills players cleaned out their lockers on Sunday and spoke about how they’re feeling.

“You just don’t feel like they accepted the fact that we lost. Guys just kind of stay in that kind of headspace. If I could have done this, we could have done that. A lot of emotions,” said offensive guard O’Cyrus Torrence.

“There’s a lot of anger, frustration. But I mean, there’s multiple ways to look at this,” said linebacker Shaq Thompson.

GAME RECAP: Buffalo Bills fall to Denver Broncos in OT, 33-30

As the Bills had the ball in overtime, the game took a sudden turn when Josh Allen’s throw to receiver Brandin Cooks turned into what officials ruled as an interception by Broncos cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian. However, some Bills players have questioned why officials didn’t spend more time reviewing that interception.

“It didn’t feel like, to us, that it was kind of looked at intentionally. And that was probably the most frustrating part, to pour out our body and our hearts in the game. And then a critical moment like that seemed to just have been a call that they stuck with and then moved on to the next play,” said tight end Dawson Knox.

“I can only tell you what my thoughts are, and I believe it was a catch. I’m not the referee, not to dig out, I only can say my opinion,” said wide receiver Curtis Samuel.

The Bills team is also showing support for Allen after he was visibly emotional at the podium after the game, saying that he felt like he let his teammates down. Allen lost the ball four times, two from interceptions and two from fumbles. However, he did have good moments in the game, passing for 283 yards and rushing for 66.

“He carries the weight of this whole franchise of this whole city on his shoulders and that’s the type of pressure that I can’t even fathom. So just trying to pick him up and let him know, man, you just put up 30 points on one of the best defenses in the NFL,” Knox said.

The sadness of another year down the drain, but the hope of the next one starting now. Knox said there were so many bright spots this season.

“It was a special group and I’m going to miss those guys, because it was a great ride, really resilient year and we had a lot of awesome moments,” he said.
