CAIRO, Jan 15 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty conducted intensive phone calls with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian, Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi and the US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.
The calls come at the directive of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The calls tackled the rapid developments in the region, where the participants asserted the need to de-escalate tensions and avoid further instability and chaos.
Also, the calls underscored the importance of creating an environment conducive to diplomatic solutions and achieving political settlements that support regional security and stability.
Meanwhile, the calls addressed the evolving situation in Gaza and the transition to the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan.
They stressed the importance of moving forward with the commitments of this phase, including the formation of a Palestinian technocratic committee, the deployment of an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire, the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the preparation for early recovery and reconstruction efforts.
