Ariana Grande & Jonathan Bailey Reunite to Tease ‘Sunday in the Park With George’ West End Revival

After costarring in the Wicked films, Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey are still dancing through life together as they gear up to revive Stephen Sondheim’s Saturday in the Park With George on London’s West End.

At least, that’s what fans are gathering from a seeming teaser the two actors posted on Instagram on Wednesday (Jan. 14). In a photo snapped from behind, Grande and Bailey sit inside the Art Institute of Chicago in front of Georges Seurat’s famous pointillist painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatt, which inspired the Sondheim musical.

“All it has to be is good,” the duo wrote in their joint caption, quoting a lyric from the production’s title track.

According to Deadline, the revival will reportedly open in summer 2027 at London’s Barbican Theatre, though a formal announcement has not yet been made. Marianne Elliott, who directed Bailey in the 2018 West End run of Company, is expected to helm the project.

Though this will mark Grande’s first venture on the West End, she’s no stranger to musical theater. She first got her start at the age of 13 in the Broadway musical 13 and played Penny in NBC’s 2016 Hairspray Live!

And of course, the Grammy winner and Bridgerton star first worked together in the live-action adaptation of one of the most famous Broadway musicals of all time: Wicked. The former played Glinda and earned her first-ever Oscar nomination in Jon M. Chu’s film duology, while the latter starred as Fiyero.

Grande has previously shared her desire to return to theater after falling back in love with acting through the filming of Wicked. Having stated that she’s probably going to dial back the amount of pop music she releases going forward, she told Interview in November, “I would love to be on stage again … it’s funny, because I thought that’s what I would be doing with my life when I was a young girl.”
