It’s been a really fun weekend in Chicago, and now we’re right back into Monday, dodging the Blues and seeing Red. The Bulls have a long week ahead: four games in six days, starting tomorrow against the Houston Rockets. If they can wrap this stretch with at least three wins against mostly non-playoff teams, I’d say this weekend’s happiness has a real chance to survive all the way to next Sunday.
Let’s talk Bulls basketball.

— Sacramento Kings (@SacramentoKings) January 12, 2026 The Rockets’ loss could be blamed on a ton of things they did wrong, but the one nobody saw coming was their hotel situation. They played the Kings in Sacramento last night and somehow ended up having to drive to the game all the way from San Francisco because they couldn’t find a hotel in Sacramento. I’m sorry, but in the entire city of Sacramento an NBA team couldn’t find a place to stay? Don’t teams plan this stuff weeks in advance? Why are they so “on-the-fly” with hotel reservations? Or was this the Kings’ way of playing defense both on and off the court? If that’s the case, we should probably all get together and book every hotel in Chicago so the Rockets have to commute from Indiana for tomorrow’s game.Spears: Rockets drove to Golden 1 Center from San Francisco after not being able to find a hotel in Sacramento last night.Rockets have lost 3 in a row for the first time this season.
— Underdog NBA (@UnderdogNBA) January 12, 2026 From now on, if I’m writing a game preview or a postgame article, I’m just going to ask Ayo Dosunmu how it’s going to go. When the Bulls beat the Mavericks on Saturday, the Bears–Packers game was still going, and Chicago was down 21–6. Ayo, in his postgame interview, casually said, “Watch how the Bears come back.” Since those words left his mouth, the Bears went on to score 25 points while the Packers managed just six, finishing off a 31–27 win for Chicago. Ayo is already doing a lot for the Bulls on the court, but his contribution to the Bears will not go unnoticed. At the end of his postgame interview after dropping 20 points vs. the Mavericks, Ayo Dosunmu said, "Watch how the Bears come back."The Bears were down 21-6 when he said that. They won 31-27. pic.twitter.com/VDRBnN3DpG
— Bulls on CHSN (@CHSN_Bulls) January 11, 2026 Speaking of Ayo, he’s one of seven players on expiring contracts for Chicago. That’s why the Bulls keep popping up in just about every trade-rumor article, teams just can’t miss those juicy expiring deals. Sam Smith, the longtime writer for Bulls.com, believes the team should treat this season as a transition and use those contracts as leverage, moving players like Nikola Vučević, Coby White, and possibly Ayo Dosunmu for draft picks and young, high-upside talent. Those assets could then be packaged to move up in the draft or to trade for a real, franchise-level star. The goal isn’t to stay mediocre. Without taking that kind of risk, Chicago is just going to stay stuck in the middle. Low Risk, High Reward? Bulls Eyeing a Zion Williamson Trade In other news, it would feel wrong to write a Bulls Bullets in January and not mention D-Rose. Chicago is getting the full Rose experience right now, with reminders of him popping up everywhere you look. One that we at Bleacher Nation caught, right outside the United Center, was a bus wrapped head to toe in a D-Rose decal. We’re less than two weeks away from his jersey retirement, and if it already feels like this, I can’t even imagine how much more it’s about to ramp up.The D-Rose Hype is taking over Chicago once again!
