The Chicago Bears play their first home playoff game in seven years tonight. And one of the driving forces behind the 11-win NFC North champs has been an influx of talent that was brought in by this front office — which includes a trio of All-Pro additions.
Left guard Joe Thuney and safety Kevin Byard III were named first-team All-Pros on Saturday. Joining them in earning All-Pro status was right tackle Darnell Wright, who was selected to the second team. You can check out the full 2025 All-Pro team here.
Chicago Bears All-Pros: Joe Thuney, Kevin Byard III, Darnell Wright
More on the three Bears who played their way into All-Pro status during the 2025 NFL season…
JOE THUNEY, LEFT GUARD
This is the third consecutive first-team All-Pro nod for Joe Thuney, who also earned second-team All-Pro status while with the New England Patriots in 2019. So this is old hat for Thuney, a 33-year-old offensive lineman who might arguably be the Bears’ best player. A four-time Pro Bowler and four-time Super Bowl champ, Thuney played on 100 percent of the team’s offensive snaps during the regular season and earned a 79.4 overall grade from Pro Football Focus that grades out as the fifth-best among offensive guards. Thuney, who was acquired in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs in March 2025, has been a pro’s pro with his stabilizing presence in the trenches.
KEVIN BYARD III, SAFETY
This marks the third time in which Kevin Byard III has earned first-team All-Pro status. The first two instances in which he was named an All-Pro came in 2017 and 2021 while as a member of the Tennessee Titans. Byard played in all 17 games, was in on 100 percent of the team’s defensive snaps, and led the NFL with seven interceptions. His 74.2 overall grade from PFF makes him the 14th-best safety among the 98 players who appeared on enough snaps to qualify for the leaderboard. A free-agent signing in March 2024, Byard has been one of the best acquisitions made by General Manager Ryan Poles.
DARNELL WRIGHT, RIGHT TACKLE
Even though Darnell Wright was a Pro Bowl snub this season, the 24-year-old offensive lineman earned second-team All-Pro status with his performance in 2025. Wright played in 16 of the Bears’ 17 games and earned an 81.9 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, which placed him as the 13th-highest-graded offensive tackle among 89 players who saw enough action to qualify for a spot on the leaderboard. The Bears used a 2023 first-round pick on Wright, who has gotten better each season with the team.

Don’t get me wrong. I know how much of an impact that Ben Johnson has had as a first-year head coach. Quarterback Caleb Williams’ improvement as a second-year starter is also a key piece of this operation. As is an improved running game and a dynamic passing attack. Heck, I was about to feel guilty about not mentioning Pro Bowl center Drew Dalman or right guard Jonah Jackson (who has a strong case for any type of most-improved player award the league could give out) in this section. But I can’t shake the importance of the contributions from Thuney, Byard, and Wright.
MEET THE 2026 CHICAGO BEARS PRO BOWLERS
Joe Thuney and Kevin Byard brought a veteran presence and winning mentality to a Bears team that didn’t have much of either thing. Thuney’s résumé includes Pro Bowl accolades, All-Pro honors, and a starting spot on nine teams that have won division titles. To get some one like him for a middle-round draft pick was a steal. Byard was a winner in Tennessee and Philadelphia before signing on with Chicago. He has been an incredible upgrade at the position. As for Wright, he has brought an intimidating presence along the offensive line since he was drafted. He wasn’t a consensus pick, but Wright is proving why this front office used the 10th overall pick on him in 2023.
