35 Years Ago Today, a Country Legend Released the Song That Changed His Career

On Jan. 7, 1991, a country legend, Alan Jackson, started his landmark career by releasing what would go on to become his first No. 1 hit country song, "I’d Love You All Over Again."

The track was released as the last single on his debut album, Here in the Real World, which was originally released on Feb. 27, 1990. Along with "I’d Love You All Over Again," the other singles for the album were "Blue Blooded Woman," "Here in the Real World," "Wanted," and "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow."

    "I’d Love You All Over Again" soon topped the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, becoming his career-first No. 1 country hit. It also topped the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart, becoming his second song to do so.

    The official account for Jackson marked the special anniversary on social media on Jan. 7, 2026, writing, "Happy Anniversary to 'I’d Love You All Over Again,' Alan’s very first @Billboard No. 1 hit! ?."

    Fans joined in on the celebrations, with one calling the track "A song that never ages," as another loyal fan commented, "That's making music from the heart, I love you forever and ever."

    After the release of "I'd Love You All Over Again," Jackson quickly came out with his second studio album in 1991 called Don't Rock the Jukebox, which was released on May 14. Continuing his success, he released three No. 1 hit country songs on the record, including the title song, "Someday," and "Dallas."

    Throughout his long career, he has gone on to have over 20 songs top the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, with a few other standouts from over the years being "Chattahoochee" in 1993, the Jimmy Buffett duet "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" in 2003, and "Good Time" in 2008.

    Jackson Opened up About His Personal Style of Songwriting in the Past

    In a 2021 interview, Jackson talked about his perspective on songwriting, saying, "I've always tried to write it where it is personal, but it's not... So that other people can feel like that could be their life."

    He mentioned the 2012 song he wrote called "When I Saw You Leaving (For Nisey)," which is about his wife Denise's battle with cancer, saying, "It's almost something to help me as much as her, and I didn't know if I wanted it to be on album but it was."

    "I tried to think that it might help other people that were going through something like that," he concluded.
