Kelly Ripa is back after the holiday break and served a look she didn’t exactly rehearse.
During the Monday, January 5, episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, the television host, 55, explained how she accidentally went rogue while doing her makeup before filming the show.
“This morning I woke up, I was very disoriented,” she shared with viewers. “We’d been on vacation, didn’t know where I was. Started getting ready a little bit in the dark because I don’t like to wake, you know, I don’t like, illuminate, the room; I don’t want the bedroom to be illuminated when I start putting makeup on.”
Ripa continued her glam process as usual, thinking nothing was going wrong. The television personality explained that she grabbed for her foundation stick and began heavily applying the product all over her face. “And something doesn’t look right, but I sort of keep going,” she noted, suggesting that it would turn out fine once she added blush and did her final touches.

“I just keep adding more and more and more and more,” the former soap actress — who shares Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 22 with husband and cohost, Mark Consuelos — said.
Ripa then revealed some extra bronzer was the culprit behind her mishap. “If I look strange to you this morning, it’s because I was putting contour all over my face,” she spilled about her added glow.
Consuelos, 54, comforted Ripa, assuring her, “You look great!”
DisneyRipa responded with a quip, admitting, “I look like I’ve been somewhere. Everyone’s like, ‘Oh, you’re tan.’ I’m not. I used a contour stick as foundation.”
She always keeps it real with her audience, having previously been transparent about a wardrobe malfunction leading up to the Christmas holiday.
“I’m still getting dressed,” Ripa said while adjusting her outfit. “Hey guys, I’m not going to lie, 10 seconds ago, I was not dressed at all. And now I’m sort of half-dressed.”
Consuelos chimed in, cheekily telling Ripa, “Let me see, let me check you out.”
Ripa said that she was “missing a belt,” adding with a sigh, “I think my fly is up, we’re fine, we’re fine. Somehow we made it.”

With their candid moments and undeniable chemistry, Ripa and Consuelos have continued to entertain viewers. The former All My Children actor joined as permanent cohost alongside Ripa in April 2023.
In October 2025, the syndicated talk show won the award for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series at the 2025 Daytime Emmy Awards. Prior to that, Consuelos and Ripa secured a victory in the 2024 hosting category.
The couple has been married since May 1996 and will soon be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary.
Consuelos broke down their long history together on the show last year, explaining, “That’s like going from first grade to high school twice and then taking college and getting a one-year master’s.”
She replied, “If you say so, I don’t know how to do that kind of math.”
Ripa also pondered during the episode, “If we didn’t find each other, who else would we be married to?”
