Trinidad Chambliss shared a statement on social media on Monday evening amid speculation over his future in college football.
Chambliss confirmed he will return to Ole Miss for the 2026 season if he’s granted an additional year of eligibility by the NCAA. He’s currently going through the waiver process with the NCAA as he seeks to be eligible for next fall.
While his future is still unclear on the eligibility side, Chambliss dismissed any possibility that he may enter the transfer portal on Monday night.
“While the process is still ongoing, there is no place I’d rather be than finishing my college football career in Oxford,” Chambliss wrote. “I’m incredibly grateful for this decision and excited to continue the work alongside my teammates, coach Pete, and the entire Ole Miss staff as we chase something special next year.”

— Trinidad Chambliss (@TrinidadChambl1) January 6, 2026Chambliss was one of college football’s breakout stars in 2025. After beginning the year as the backup, he took over for an injured Austin Simmons early in the season and never looked back. He’s thrown for 3,660 yards, 21 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions to this point in the year.
While Chambliss and Ole Miss await word from the NCAA, the Rebels are still alive for this year’s national championship. Chambliss will lead the Rebels against Miami on Thursday night in a CFP semifinal.
