SAN JOSE — Two men have died from injuries they suffered in separate car collisions in December, according to San Jose police.
In the most recent collision, police say that just after 11 a.m. on Dec. 16, a man driving a 2024 Lexus sedan headed west on East Brokaw Road was crossing North First Street with a green light when he hit a man riding south on an electric bicycle.
The injured rider was taken to a hospital, where he died Friday, police said. His name was not publicly released pending his formal identification and notification of his next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
Police also announced the Saturday death of a pedestrian who was hit by a motorist near Cataldi Park on Dec. 7. According to traffic investigators, a woman driving a 2007 Nissan Altima was traveling west on Cataldi Drive when she hit a man walking on the roadway in the same direction.

Both drivers in the separate collisions stopped at the scene. There is no indication from police that they were arrested or cited.
The two collisions raise the 2025 total of the city’s roadway deaths to 40. The Dec. 16 collision marked the only bicycle death of the year, and the Dec. 7 collision was the city’s 20th pedestrian death of the year, according to police and data compiled by this news organization.
