January
GRRC Freezeroo Race – Pineway Ponds Park: Saturday, Jan. 10 at 10 a.m. – Race starts and ends at Pineway Ponds Park (Boetcher Lodge). Part of the “GRRC Freezeroo Series,” which goes until Feb. 21. Winterfest Hot Cocoa Run: Saturday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. – This is part of Monroe County’s Winterfest Festival. People can choose from 5K road or 5K-ish trail, and sign up the kids for the kids race! The course is within Mendon Ponds Park. Sugar Bowl 5K: Sunday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. – Takes place at Total Sports Experience (TSE) in Gates. This is part of the Polar Cats Race Series. Frosted Lakes 5K: Saturday, Jan. 24 at 9 a.m. – A fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity of Yates County the race starts and ends at Wellspring Fellowship in Penn Yan. Registration and last-minute packet pickup is at 8a.m. GRRC Freezeroo Race -The Hearnish five mile: Saturday, Jan. 24 at 10:00 a.m. – This is part of the GRRC Freezeroo Series. Takes place at Victor Municipal Park Lodge.February
Teddy Bear Trot: Sunday, Feb. 8 at 10 a.m. – Three mile fun run and walk that benefits Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester. Super Bowl 5K: Sunday, Feb. 8 at 10 a.m. – Part of the Polar Cats Race Series. GRRC Freezeroo Race – Valentines Run: Saturday, Feb. 14 at 9 a.m. – Eight mile run in memory of Tom Brannon. It takes place at Braddock Bay Park, shelter is Donald C. Schlieter Lodge and Pavilion. Cupid’s Cup 5K: Sunday, Feb. 15 at 9 a.m. – Race starts and ends at the Irondequoit High School. GRRC Freezeroo Race – White House Challenge: Saturday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. – Takes place at Webster Park. 4.4 mile race. Cabin Fever: Sunday, Feb. 22 at 9 a.m. – There will be two courses, a short course (about five miles) and a long course (about ten miles). Takes place at Webster Park.March
Cereal Bowl 5K: Sunday, March 1 at 10 a.m. – The last race in the Polar Cats Race Series. Runnin’ of the Green: Saturday, March 14 at 9:30 a.m. – People also have the option to complete five miles in a non-race, walk, or do yoga the morning of. View course map here. Geneva St. Patrick’s 5K Shamrock Run: Saturday, March 14 at 11 a.m. Registration is 9-10:30 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Council 272 in Geneva. The course loops through the streets of Geneva. Registration is online only. ROC Indoor Triathlon: Saturday, March 28 at 1 p.m. – Will be held at the Louis Wolk Jewish Community Center (JCC). People have the option to swim, bike, or run.April
Three Brothers Spiked Apple 5K: Saturday, April 4 – Start times are at 9 and 10:30 a.m. The race features a scenic two-lap route through the Three Brothers vineyard and orchard in Geneva. It’s a cross-country-style course with some uneven footing. ROCovery #OMAAT 24-Hour Run/Walk Challenge: April 18-19 at 1 p.m. – This course is a one-mile loop at Fellows Road Park. People can run or walk as many laps as they please within the 24-hour window. Flower City Challenge: Sunday, April 26 – There will be a half-marathon, 5K race, and kids’ half-mile run that start at various times. The races start and finish at Parcel 5 in downtown Rochester. Seneca7: Sunday, April 26 – This is a 77.7-mil relay race around Seneca Lake, in which each team must have seven members with waivers signed by March 31. Teams must rotate runners in the same sequence throughout the race. It starts at 35 Lake Front Drive in Geneva.May
Naples Youth Corp 5K/10K: Saturday, May 2 at 8:30 a.m. Prior to the race will be two waves of the Kids’ Dash starting at 8:15 a.m., with youth ages 2-5 and ages 6-10 running a short distance. It’s a fundraiser for the Naples Youth Corporation. Medved Madness Trail Races: Sunday, May 3 at 7:30 a.m. – There will be two races. A long course roughly 13 miles, and a short course roughly five miles. The race takes place at Mendon Ponds Park. Mind The Ducks 12-Hour: Saturday, May 9 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. – This is an ultramarathon on a circular course. The goal is to run as many laps or miles as you can in 12 hours. Middle Finger 5K: Saturday, May 9 at 6 p.m. This run/walk event is a fundraiser for Thrive to Survive, which supports adults with cancer in a five-county region. Pink and Teal Challenge: Saturday, May 9 at 9:30 a.m. – Takes place at Monroe Community College. Sehgahunda Trail Marathon & Relay: Saturday, May 16 at 7:45 a.m. – This race is about 26.3 miles long. It takes place at Letchworth State Park. Vale of Three Falls 5K / 10K / 15K: Sunday, May 17 Mills Miles: Saturday, May 23 at 9 a.m. This is a family-friendly Last Runner Standing format race in Powder Mills Park. Each 1-mile loop is a mass start with a pre-determined time cutoff — you’re out if you miss the cutoff. Following 25 laps with time cutoffs, the 26th will be an all-out race.June
9 Hours for 9 Lives Ultra: Saturday, June 6 at 8 a.m. Participants run or walk as many 1.52-mile loops as they wish at an active produce farm in Shortsville. Proceeds benefit Colony Caregivers, which provides care for feral and colony cats in and around Ontario County. Finger Lakes Fit 5K: Saturday, June 6. It’s a 5K run in Yates County. Frost Town Trail Fest: Saturday, June 6. It’s a trail run with 10K and 25K options. circumnavigating the Cumming Nature Center and the NYSDEC Honeoye Inlet Wildlife Management Area. (There’s also a 3K Fun Run for young people.) Rush-Henrietta Kicking Hunger 5K: Saturday, June 6 at 8 a.m. The run/walk is to bring awareness to hunger in the community and to promote exercise and family-centered events, and to raise money for the Rush-Henrietta Athletic Association and school district food and backpack programs. There is also a virtual option June 5-7. Keuka Lake Triathlon: Sunday, June 7. A triathlon on the shores of Keuka College include spring and intermediate distances. It includes a bike ride in wine country, a swim in Keuka Lake, and a flat run along the lake. There are individual and team options. Laurel House 5K: Saturday, June 13 at 9 a.m. The race begins on Main Street in Newark, Wayne County, near the Post Office, and ends on East Avenue. All proceeds benefit Laurel House Comfort Care Home in Newark. There also is a virtual option if you can’t be there June 13. Stache Dash 5K: Saturday, June 20 at 6 p.m. This 5K is held in Canandaigua every Fathers day to support the Blue Foundation, which helps men and their families in the Finger Lakes suffering from health issues. The race is held in the area of Canandaigua Lake, Kershaw Park and Lagoon Park.July
High Tor Trail Marathon: Saturday, July 11 at 8 a.m. This race begins and ends at Naples Community Park and includes downtown Naples, High Tor and the Finger Lakes Trail. You may run a full- or half-marathon. Ironman 70,3 Musslman: Sunday, July 12. It’s a triathlon in Geneva involving swimming, biking and running. CandleLight 12 Hour – Overnight Ultra: Saturday, July 18. There’s a 24-hour race starting at 7 a.m.; a 12-hour race starting at 7 p.m., and a 12-hour relay race starting at 7 p.m. It’s a 1-mile loop in Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp in Rush. Keuka Outlet Trail Half Marathon and 10K: Saturday, July 18.
