HENRIETTA, N.Y. — Twenty-five people have been displaced from an apartment building on Farrell Road after a fire Sunday afternoon. No injuries were reported to residents or firefighters, though one dog died in the fire.

Henrietta firefighters responded to the fire at 4:45 p.m., finding smoke and flames showing from the basement, according to a Facebook post from the Henrietta Fire District. According to the district, the fire was intensified by a free-flowing gas line, and the heat caused a floor collapse just inside the front entrance. Firefighters had to go in through second-floor windows to fight thefire.

    The fire district is coordinating with the American Red Cross to provide shelter, food and other help to the residents. Several pets were rescued, though one dog died and one cat is still mising.

    The Monroe County Fire Bureau is investigating the cause of the fire.
