However, Yograj said has likened his batting to his father’s, saying that the 26-year-old bats just like Sachin. Yuvraj Singh’s father, who trained Arjun for a few sessions, has recently spoken about how he got mesmerised while watching Arjun bat. While speaking to journalist Ravish Bisht, he said:
“Why are you focusing just on his bowling? He is basically a batter. When he came to me for a 10-12 day camp before a Ranji Trophy after the requests of Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh, they said take care of him (Arjun). I said you don’t need to worry. One day he got hit, we took him to a doctor and he was fine.”
“One day, I asked him to pad up. He said he never gets to bat. But I never saw him bat. Then, we went inside. But when he started to bat, it smashed fours and sixes. I asked his coach about why don’t you bat him more often? He is a batsman of a great quality. He bats just like his father (Sachin Tendulkar). Then, I made sure he batted 2-3 hours daily and on his Ranji Trophy debut, he got a hundred,” he concluded.
What Yograj Singh concluded with is absolutely true, as Arjun hammered a century on his Ranji Trophy debut against Rajasthan in the 2022/23 season. He made 120 off 207 while batting at number seven. He even opened the bowling and took three wickets as well.

The last thing Arjun Tendulkar wants from people is to compare him with his father. This is, sort of, a disrespect to Sachin as well after all he achieved in his illustrious career. Arjun, meanwhile, has different skill sets altogether. He is a left-arm pace bowling all-rounder, whose primary role is bowling with the new ball.
Yes, he certainly has raw talent to bat but the road is too far ahead. For his state side, Goa, Arjun more often than not bats in a tailender’s role. However, it must be noted that this season, we saw him bat as an opener as well. But with 620 runs at 21.37 in FC cricket and 189 at 13.50, it is criminal to compare his batting with his dad’s. There’s certainly raw talent but there are no performances. With the ball, Arjun has 48 wickets in FC cricket and 25 and 35 in List-A and T20s.
