Georgia and Ole Miss are meeting for the second time this year, this time in the Sugar Bowl in the quarterfinal round of the College Football Playoff.
There have been big hits all throughout the game. Quarterback Gunner Stockton took a monster hit early in the game, but there wasn’t a penalty called on the play. However, he was able to stay in the game and scored a rushing touchdown on the very next play.
Later in the half, defensive back JaCorey Thomas had a big hit on an Ole Miss receiver and was called for targeting.
The play wasn’t without controversy though, as he didn’t make helmet to helmet contact on the play. Wide receiver Caden Lee caught a pass and was slipping backwards, and the officials deemed him to be a defenseless receiver while also saying Thomas launched into the hit.
