The announcements of the Walter Payton and Buck Buchanan awards will cap the 2025 Stats Perform FCS National Awards Show, Saturday night in Nashville, Tennessee.

The FCS stars will shine Saturday night when the top individual awards in college football’s Division I subdivision are presented at the 2025 Stats Perform FCS National Awards Show in Nashville, Tennessee.

    Six awards will be handed out, including the two original legacy awards – the Walter Payton Award and the Eddie Robinson Award – both in their 39th year. The Jerry Rice Award is celebrating its 15th anniversary season.

    The awards show will air on YouTube, via The FCS Edge podcast channel, beginning around 7:45 p.m. ET.

    39th Walter Payton Award

    The Walter Payton Award recipient will be announced at the awards show. From 30 finalists, the FCS offensive player of the year is down to quarterbacks Beau Brungard (Youngstown State), Taron Dickens (Western Carolina) and Cole Payton (North Dakota State).

    31st Buck Buchanan Award

    The Buck Buchanan Award recipient will be announced at the award show. From 30 finalists, the FCS defensive player of the year is down to linebacker James Conway (Fordham) and defensive ends Joshua Stoneking (Furman) and Andrew Zock (Mercer).

    15th Jerry Rice Award

    Mercer quarterback Braden Atkinson will receive the Jerry Rice Award, which had 25 finalists. He’s the first player from the Southern Conference to earn FCS freshman player of the year.

    39th Eddie Robinson Award

    Lehigh’s Kevin Cahill will receive the Eddie Robinson Award, which honors the FCS coach of the year from 15 finalists. He led the Mountain Hawks to a 12-0 regular-season record and a second consecutive Patriot League championship.

    11th Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award

    Montana center Dillon Botner will receive the Doris Robinson Award, which honors an FCS student-athlete who exemplifies excellence on the field, in the classroom and across the community. Each of the 13 FCS conferences had a finalist.

    Second HBCU National Player of the Year

    Alabama State quarterback Andrew Body will receive the newest of the Stats Perform awards, honoring the outstanding player from the 21 FCS programs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. There were 10 finalists.
