Weld County Commissioners recognize employees for decades of service

Kyle Ragland serves Weld County by supervising caseworkers handling child protection and juvenile delinquency cases.

A permanency supervisor for the county’s Department of Human Services, Ragland has worked for the county for 30 years, earning special recognition from the county commissioners earlier this month.

On Dec. 15, the commissioners showed their appreciation to county employees who reached significant service milestones in 2025. Among them were 76 employees who received 10-year pins, 27 who received 20-year pins and two who received 30-year pins.

Ragland said he appreciated the county’s notice after all these years.

“You know, it feels really good,” he said. “I really appreciate the county taking notice and taking care of us for all these years. Child welfare can be a tough job, and having people recognize it is really nice.”

He interned with the county after earning his master’s degree in social work from Colorado State University. Once that role became full-time, he never looked back.

Ragland said his job with the county has connected him with several lifelong friends and has given him the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and families across Weld County. He is completely satisfied with his position, he said, adding that the county has taken good care of him over the years.

“I love working with the kids and families, especially the teenagers,” Ragland said. “The friendships over the years between all of us that have worked there about the same amount of time, we’re all still there and support each other. The county’s taking good care of us. They’re a great employer.”

The 105 employees who were recognized span 14 departments across the county government. Their department supervisors shared remarks on each employee’s contributions and day-to-day impact on their teams.

“These milestones represent more than years of service; they reflect the experience, institutional knowledge and public-service commitment that keep Weld County Government strong,” County Commissioner Chair Perry Buck said. “We are grateful for the work these employees do every day on behalf of our community.”
