It’s OK. So is Luther Burden III.
The Bears rookie receiver was last seen on the ground appearing injured after the conclusion of the game-ending play that closed the book on a 42-38 win by the 49ers. Shortly after the game, ESPN’s Courtney Cronin reported that Burden was carted off the field and noted that the wideout was spotted grabbing his left hamstring when he was en route for an X-ray at Levi’s Stadium. This is a situation we’ll monitor throughout the week for obvious reasons. But with that being said, the early indications seem more positive than negative — at least, that is how I feel after hearing Luther Burden III speak to reporters in this clip.

All things considered, I would think of that interaction as an encouraging one.

In case you missed it, Luther Burden III balled the heck out on Sunday Night Football. Sure, his efforts came in a 42-38 loss. But Burden leading the way with eight catches, 138 receiving yards, and a touchdown was one of the most impressive performances of the year. That it came in primetime, against a highly regarded team, and just one week removed from missing the team’s Week 16 win against the Green Bay Packers because of an ankle injury only adds to the lore. It’s a shame Burden’s performance didn’t come in a win because it deserves every bit of praise imaginable.

Again, we will keep tabs on Luther Burden’s health status throughout the week. Thankfully, the Bears’ next game isn’t until Sunday at 3:25 p.m.. We have been looking forward to that rematch against the Lions for a while. And I imagine the players feel similarly, too. It’ll be all hands on deck when that one kicks off at Soldier Field.
