Not everyone has given up hope on the Malaysia Airlines flight that mysteriously went missing back in 2014.
In fact, an American company is about to begin another search for MH370, media outlets including NBC News report. It will be carried out by Ocean Infinity, based in Texas.
Malaysia’s transport ministry stated earlier this month that the marine robotics firm will search intermittently from Dec. 30 for a total of 55 days, in targeted areas believed to have the highest likelihood of finding the missing aircraft, according to The Associated Press.
"The latest development underscores the [Malaysia's] commitment to providing closure to the families affected by this tragedy," the transport ministry said on Dec. 3, per the BBC.

CEO Oliver Punkett has said the company improved its technology since 2018, when the firm made its first search of a similar nature and found nothing, The AP reported at the time. Punkett has said the firm is working with many experts to analyze data and had narrowed the search area to the most likely site.
Flight MH370, a Boeing 777, disappeared in 2014 while travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing and sparked the largest search in aviation history, according to the BBC.
Strangely, prior to going missing, the pilots did not communicate any problems to air traffic controllers. Some Malaysian military officials said that radar data shows the plane may have changed course to return to Kuala Lampur. However, if the pilots did so, they did not indicate their new flight path to air traffic control. For more backstory surrounding the actual disappearance, click here.
In March of 2014, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said during a press conference that the flight went down over the Indian Ocean. Family members of those aboard MH370 were told at the time that “all lives are lost.”
