Bills cut Hardman, add tight end with injuries looming

The Bills will host the reigning Super Bowl Champion, Philadelphia Eagles, on Sunday in a their penultimate regular season contest. On Saturday, Buffalo cut wide receiver Mecole Hardman while signing tight end Keleki Latu from the practice squad.

HARDMAN

Hardman was signed before Buffalo’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and thanks to injury, the seventh-year wideout only played in two games. In those contests, Hardman didn’t make a single catch on just one target, primarily used as a returner. Hardman had a 61-yard kick return in his Bills debut, but fumbled later in the game. With Ray Davis emerging as one of the league’s best kick returners, Hardman’s role diminished, and Buffalo moves on.

    LATU

Undrafted rookie free agent Keleki Latu was signed to the active roster, filling Hardman’s spot. Latu was previously on the team’s practice squad and had been elevated three times, the maximum amount allowed by the NFL, grabbing one catch for four yards. With tight ends Dawson Knox and Dalton Kincaid both listed as questionable, Buffalo opted to sign Latu to the active roster, giving them depth if either or both of Kincaid and Knox can’t play Sunday.

    PRACTICE SQUAD ELEVATIONS

Kicker Michael Badgley and defensive end Andre Jones Jr. have been elevated from the practice squad. With Matt Prater still sidelined with a quad injury, Badgley is set to make his second start as a Bill. Against the Browns, Badgley went one-for-one on field goals and two-for-three on extra points. This is both players’ second elevation.

    INJURIES

Safety Jordan Poyer and defensive tackles DaQuan Jones and Jordan Phillips have all been ruled out. Deone Walker, TJ Sanders, Phidarian Mathis, and Larry Ogunjobi are the four remaining d-tackles on the active roster. Darnell Savage, Cam Lewis, and Jordan Hancock are all options to start at safety opposite of Cole Bishop.

    Josh Allen will play.

Kickoff on Sunday is scheduled for 4:25 pm at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.
