ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Uniting and Healing Through Hope of Monroe County is intensifying its efforts to combat violence in the community. The group held a news conference Tuesday morning at the site of Friday’s shooting on Chili Avenue, where three Rochester police officers and a civilian were shot.
Clay Harris, founder of United and Healing, emphasized the importance of police in maintaining community safety.
“Without our law enforcement men and women, there would surely be chaos and anarchy all over,” Harris said.
“And I say today, that it is not alright to shoot a cop. It’s not alright to shoot nobody,” Harris added.
Officials said the Rochester Police Department will release body camera footage from Friday’s shootings, but no timeline has been provided.
As of the latest update, one officer is recovering at home while two others remain hospitalized. One officer is stable, and the other is in critical condition. The civilian victim who was involved in the shooting and initially called 911 is also hospitalized with serious injuries.
