Denver Summit FC signs defender Carson Pickett, a two-time NWSL Best XI honoree

Denver Summit FC’s defensive identity continues to come into focus.

The club signed defender Carson Pickett, a two-time NWSL Best XI honoree, on Monday. Pickett inked a two-year contract with the club for 2026 and ’27.

Pickett is the fourth defender that Summit FC has signed ahead of its inaugural 2026 season, joining Camryn Biegalski, Kaleigh Kurtz and Megan Reid. Summit FC also signed a goalkeeper earlier this month in two-time NWSL champion Abby Smith.

In Pickett, Summit FC is getting an experienced defender who has played in numerous NWSL cities and abroad. The 32-year-old was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 draft out of Florida State, and the left back has played for Seattle Reign FC, Orlando Pride, North Carolina Courage and Racing Louisville FC.

“Carson is a proven competitor and a true leader on the pitch,” Summit FC general manager Curt Johnson said in a statement. “Her experience at the highest levels, combined with her dedication and professionalism, make her a perfect fit for a team that’s building its identity from the ground up. We are excited to welcome her to Denver.”
