Two pedestrians were struck and killed in a hit-and-run early Sunday morning in Chicago’s Morgan Park neighborhood, with police searching for a Jeep Cherokee that fled the scene and left the men lying in the street.
The fatal collision took place about 1:15 a.m. in the 11700 block of South Marshfield, police said. Upon arrival, police found two men unresponsive in the middle of the street. One of the men, police said, was 30-years-old.
According to authorities, both men were pronounced dead at the scene. No apparent trauma to either of their bodies was found, police said, and a death investigation was underway.
Early Monday morning, police confirmed the incident was a hit-and-run. Officials recovered a grey Jeep Cherokee with an Illinois license plate in connection with the incident.
Police released a photo of the car in question and asked anyone with information or video surveillance of the collision to contact the Major Accident Investigation Unit at 312-745-4521.
