So, I guess this one is more like a 35-hour rule, but that’s ok. After the Bears win over the Packers on Saturday night, I wanted to take a little extra time to unpack everything and let the NFL Sunday play out how it was going to.
Now that it has, thanks to heroics from Caleb Williams and company, the Chicago Bears are officially going to the playoffs! Let’s react to Saturday’s big win.
Bears 24 Hour Rule
Despite taking a little extra time to come down from that one, it’s still hard to believe what we saw. I always like starting with Caleb Williams, and yet again, he was awesome. The bigger the moment, the better Caleb seems to play. He was awesome on the opening drive, and I thought he kept that going through most of the game. In the fourth quarter, he was absolute nails, and even had a few drops that he didn’t allow to affect him or his composure. In overtime, well, we all know what happened there.WALK IT OFF. #WPMOYChallenge + @idjmoore pic.twitter.com/ymI55QrIoV
— Chicago Bears (@ChicagoBears) December 21, 2025 It seemed improbable that Caleb Williams would top his throw against the Browns from last week any time soon, but wouldn’t you know it, it only took a week! Under the circumstances, given the opponent, the stakes, and the point in the game, it was the best throw I’ve seen a Bears quarterback make. He’s still got some developing to do, but Caleb is just special. We finally have a franchise quarterback. It’s just so easy to be happy for DJ Moore, too, after that performance. He had a pretty big drop late in that fourth quarter, but he and Caleb both moved on from it and obviously ended up making more big plays. The Bears needed receivers to step up Saturday with no Luther Burden III or Rome Odunze, and DJ Moore did his part and then some. Speaking of wideouts who stepped up, how about Jahdae Walker! It’s rare that one of the Bears’ preseason darlings actually makes an impact in the regular season, but while it took him a while, Walker did that and then some when he finally got his opportunity due to injury. His making the catch in the corner of the endzone with the game on the line feels a lot like this team’s season in a nutshell. Next man up mentality, and everyone believes they’re going to make the big play. The numbers for D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai don’t necessarily pop off the screen, with each just clearing the 50-yard mark, but a lot of that can be attributed to the Bears not really having the ball much at all in the first half. Swift averaged 4.5 yards per carry, and Monangai averaged 5.6. Week after week, the two prove to be one of the best running back tandems in football. Monangai’s hands might need a little work, but coming out of the backfield, there aren’t many running backs I trust more right now to pick up the first down in a short-yardage situation. It also felt like Saturday night’s performance was a pretty perfect encapsulation of the Bears’ season defensively. The defensive line struggled to get to the quarterback, but also made a few big plays when needed. Nashon Wright took the ball away. TJ Edwards made a massive stop on 3rd and short in overtime. The secondary bent, but didn’t really break other than the one big play touchdown. It’s hard to find a defensive coordinator doing a better job, all things considered, than Dennis Allen. Mandatory Credit: David Banks – Imagn Images It’s still kind of shocking to think that, with two games left to play, the Chicago Bears are 11-4, first place in the NFC North, locked into a playoff spot, and have a path toward the top overall seed in the NFC. A lot of credit needs to go around, but above all, I just can’t say enough about Ben Johnson. That guy has come in here and completely changed the culture. Not only from last year’s broken group, but really of this franchise as a whole. No one in that locker room or on the field gives a crap that the Bears have never really had a great quarterback or that they’ve been owned by Green Bay for as long as all of those players have been alive. It’s a new day, it’s a new group of players, and Ben Johnson has not only done so much for the players in the room to build that confidence, but throughout Halas Hall and in this city as a whole. Prior to the game Saturday, every Bears fan I talked to was, of course, nervous, but was also confident. There was no feeling of impending doom because the Packers were coming into town in a big spot. It was a feeling of alright, let’s go, bring it on. And that seems to be how Ben Johnson has his team playing. They believe that they can beat anyone, and it shows every time they take the field. If we’re in the circle of trust here, boy, am I glad that Pittsburgh took care of business in Detroit yesterday to give the Bears their playoff bid. For as high of a high as this win was, still not having clinched a spot with a Sunday Night Football in San Francisco and a home game with the Lions on the horizon certainly was an uneasy feeling, even if there was still plenty of reason to be confident. Now, after clinching the spot, the signs certainly seem to be pointing toward a Wild Card weekend showdown with the Packers yet again at Soldier Field. If that is indeed the case, I’m not quite sure what’s going to happen, but I know Ben Johnson will have that group believing and ready to play. If we thought Soldier Field was rocking on Saturday night, imagine what that might look like! Caleb Williams (18) is pressured by Green Bay Packers defensive end Kingsley Enagbare (55) at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.Hence then, the article about bears 24 hour rule let s get this team to the playoffs was published today ( ) and is available on Bleacher Nation ( Middle East ) The editorial team at PressBee has edited and verified it, and it may have been modified, fully republished, or quoted.
