Larimer County is asking residents to respect closures along the Poudre River Trail project and stay out of the construction area.
Connell Resources is building the final mile of the paved Poudre River Trail between Timnath and north Windsor, a $2 million project that will finish the trail that has been 40 years in the making.
Recently, people have removed or damaged fencing and signs around the closure area, according to a release from the Larimer County Department of Natural Resources. Entering this area is a risk for the public and creates unsafe conditions for crews working with heavy equipment, the release states.
This segment includes a 10-foot-wide concrete trail and a bridge over the Greeley No. 2 Canal. Once complete, the trail will stretch 18 miles in Fort Collins and 22 miles in unincorporated Larimer and Weld counties, Timnath, Windsor and Greeley.
Funding for this project is from Great Outdoors Colorado, the Colorado Department of Transportation and other grant partners, the release states.
Work is expected to be completed by late spring.
