The Holiday Bowl, which will feature Arizona and SMU, has an undeniably unique idea for drawing fan attention this season.
With Trust & Will as the presenting sponsor of the bowl for the first time (DirecTV held the rights the previous three seasons), the estate planning company knew just how to make the event its own.
One fan in attendance at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego will be selected to throw a football into a casket with $1,000 inheritance on the line.
Many people have been asking us, "Will there be an opportunity at the @trustandwill Holiday Bowl to win money by throwing a football into a casket?" The answer, surprisingly, is "Yes." pic.twitter.com/RB0CSn1AJo

If they make the throw, a fan not in attendance will also receive the four-figure inheritance.
Those interested in becoming a beneficiary — whether planning to be in attendance or not — can apply here.
Since the College Football Playoff was introduced, many of the nonplayoff bowls have inched closer to irrelevance. The ones that haven’t are the ones with fun ideas to latch onto, with this being the latest example.
Others include the Pop-Tarts Bowl, which features human-sized mascots, a toaster trophy and what can only be called a ritual, where the game MVP picks which flavor then becomes an edible trophy.
There are also multiple games where coaches get substances that aren’t a celebratory sports drink poured on them, such as the Duke’s Mayo Bowl and the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl (Frosted Flakes).
