A 20-year-old man was killed and another was wounded in a shooting late Friday night, Dec. 19, in a residential neighborhood in Santa Ana, police said.
Officers were dispatched around 11:25 p.m. to the 500 block of South Marine Street after receiving a report from a man who said he had been shot, a Santa Ana Police Department statement said. When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
Orange County Fire Authority personnel pronounced one of the victims, identified as Nathan Isaiah Saldana of Santa Ana, dead at the scene. The second victim, a 21-year-old man who called police, was transported to a hospital, where he was reported to be stable.
Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related and stemmed from an altercation after a party in the area, police said. Homicide detectives are working to identify and locate additional witnesses who may have more information.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Santa Ana Police Department Homicide Section at 714-245-8390 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
