ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A 36-year-old man was arrested following a shooting incident and subsequent investigation, according to a press release.
Officers responded to Eddy Street on November 20 around 5 pm for a report of a man shot. They found Tamar Shipman with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Shipman claimed he was robbed on Silver Street.
During the investigation, officers discovered a tampered shed on Silver Street. Inside, they found a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun with a spent casing. Detectives later determined Shipman had possessed the gun.
Shipman was located in a hotel room on Commons Way in Henrietta on Wednesday and taken into custody by Rochester Police with the help of New York State Parole and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Shipman faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd and 3rd Degree. He was also served with a Parole Violation Warrant. Shipman is on parole for a 2019 weapon possession conviction.
Shipman was arraigned in Rochester City Court and is being held without bail in Monroe County Jail.
