As the high school winter sports season fully takes centerstage, the Colorado High School Activities Association released its final sets of all-state selections this week for the recently concluded fall season.
On Monday, CHSAANow.com and MaxPreps announced their all-state football teams.
Windsor senior running back/outside linebacker Adriana Czyszczon earned a spot on the Class 3A first team, as did a trio of his Wizards teammates: senior guard/tackle Cashton Lewis, as well as senior tackles Deacon Schmitt and John Stephens.
Windsor went 13-1 this season, finishing as the state runner-up to Pomona.
Roosevelt senior running back Milo Pascual and senior tackle Noah Stratton were also chosen for the 3A first team.

Windsor senior linebacker/halfback Isaiah Cronk was named to the 3A second team, as were Severance senior offensive guard Marek Bollig, Roosevelt junior linebacker/tight end Thomas Dunn, Roosevelt junior wide receiver/cornerback Noah Lucero, Windsor senior running back/quarterback/wide receiver Mason Moore, Windsor senior linebacker/tight end/halfback Ryan Myers and Windsor senior defensive end/tight end/guard Cade Pohlen.
Windsor senior cornerback/wide receiver/kick returner Toby Anderson was a 3A honorable mention. Ditto for Severance senior fullback/middle linebacker Kelson Gazdik, Roosevelt senior wide receiver/safety Evan Hays, Roosevelt senior tight end/long snapper Landyn McCann, Northridge senior running back/cornerback Yael Padilla, Windsor senior cornerback/wide receiver Ethan Schneider, Severance senior wide receiver/outside linebacker/halfback Ethan Shiers, Windsor senior cornerback/running back/punt returner Grady Sullivan and Roosevelt senior running back/cornerback Ryder Tymkowych.

Huskies senior linebacker/running back Wyatt Chase earned a spot on the 11-man second team, as did Platte Valley senior quarterback/wide receiver Regan Edstrom, Highland senior offensive/defensive tackle Turner Hawkins and Highland senior quarterback/defensive back Tyler Varra.

Dayspring Christian Academy senior guard/defensive end AJ Soucie was chosen for the 1A 8-man first team. His senior Eagles teammates, guard/center Luke Downing and running back/wide receiver Elijah Martin secured spots on the second team.
Dayspring sophomore quarterback/middle linebacker Hawkins Flanagan was an 8-man honorable mention.
Prairie senior Brennan Bringelson was a 1A 6-man honorable mention, as were Briggsdale senior cornerback Scot Francis, Briggsdale junior quarterback/defensive end Koyen Gebauer and Prairie senior Tyler Troudt.
They have spirit
On Wednesday, CHSAA released all-state spirit teams for cheer and dance, and numerous local athletes received recognition.
Severance senior Lania Barber (cheer) earned a spot on the 4A first team, as did Roosevelt seniors Rylie Krieger and Xzavier Lara (co-ed), as well as Windsor seniors Jayden Warnock and Ashtyn Watson (cheer).
Windsor’s Samantha Murray was named the 4A cheer coach of the year.
The Wizards claimed their second consecutive all-girl 4A cheer state title during the state competition Dec. 11-13 at the Denver Coliseum.
Severance senior Zoe Engrav (cheer) was a 4A honorable mention.
Highland junior Destiny Baxter (cheer) was chosen for the 3A first team, as were Resurrection Christian freshman Kennedy Mcquillen and her sophomore teammate Olive Williamson (cheer).
Fort Lupton sophomore Jillian Ceretto (cheer) was named a 3A honorable mention. Ditto for Highland senior Delilah Bailey (cheer), Windsor Charter senior Alyssa Sommerfeld (cheer), Eaton junior Kaylee Thompson (cheer) and Valley senior Zulema Villarreal (game day).
Resurrection Christian’s Andrea Morse was named the 3A cheer coach of the year. The Cougars won the 3A all-girl cheer state title, the first spirit state title in school history.
As for the dance accolades, Windsor junior Olivia Johnson (4A poms) was named to the all-classification first team, as were Roosevelt seniors Abby Leibman and Hope Mayer (4A poms).
Greeley West sophomore Keelee Becher (gameday dance), Weld Central senior Ashlee Moreland (gameday dance) and Windsor junior Karley Smithers (4A poms) were honorable mentions.
University’s Gina Shepard was the 2A/3A poms coach of the year. Roosevelt’s Brittany Coleman was the 4A poms coach of the year.
University won the 2A/4A poms state championship for the second consecutive season. This was the program’s seventh poms title.
Roosevelt won the 4A poms state title, which was the school’s sixth spirit title.
Gaming talent
For the first time, CHSAA released all-state Esports teams Thursday.
One local gamer, University’s Jakob Delgado, earned recognition. He was an honorable mention after helping his team qualify for the state championships in the game Splatoon on Dec. 9 at Localhost in Lakewood.
