The Chicago Bears are hoping they can get revenge on the Green Bay Packers this week, and they gave status updates on two banged-up receivers.
Both Rome Odunze, who’s dealing with a foot injury, and Luther Burden, dealing with an ankle injury, didn’t practice on Thursday for Chicago, missing their third straight practice.
As a result, both Odunze and Burden will be out of action for the Bears on Saturday when they take on the Packers at Soldier Field, dealing a significant blow to the team’s offense.
Odunze will be missing his third straight game with the injury, while Burden, who left Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns after catching six passes, will miss a game for the first time this season.
The team will also be without linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga, who’s been out of action with a hamstring injury this week.
The Bears did get some good news on their final injury report of the week, as linebacker Tremaine Edmunds was a full participant as he works back from a groin injury that landed him on injured reserve. The Bears have until Saturday to decide whether to activate him, and he was listed as questionable for the game.
Cole Kmet, who was limited in practice Tuesday and Wednesday, was a full participant Thursday as he works through ankle and knee injuries, and he too was listed as questionable.
Running back D’Andre Swift is also questionable as he remains limited by a groin injury.
Running back Travis Homer was a full participant in practice for a second straight day, and he was not given an injury designation, indicating he’ll be able to suit up on Saturday. Defensive lineman Andrew Billings also practiced in full for a second straight day after missing Tuesday’s walk-thru due to illness, and he appears to be a full go for Saturday.
Finally, defensive lineman Joe Tryon-Shoyink missed practice on Thursday for personal reasons, and was listed as questionable for the game Saturday.
The Bears and Packers will square off at Soldier Field at 7:20 p.m. Saturday, with the game airing on Fox. If the Bears win, they’ll be able to clinch a playoff spot with a Lions loss to the Steelers on Sunday. A win would also mean the Bears could clinch the NFC North title with a win over either the 49ers or Lions in their last two games of the regular season.
