HUBBARD — While school might not be over for another five months for seniors, the Hubbard Board of Education took the time to recognize two of them for taking their athletic talents to the next level.
At the start of Monday’s regular meeting, Superintendent Raymond Soloman congratulated two of the district’s student athletes, Addie Sarisky and Haleigh Taylor, on continuing their academic and athletic careers in college.
Sarisky, who committed to the University of Alabama for gymnastics, said she started competing when she was only 6, competing at various levels. Sarisky said she chose Alabama because she wanted to go to school in the SEC, calling it a dream school.
Taylor, who committed to Ashland University for softball, said her mom initially pushed her to try out for the sport because she wanted her to be social.
Taylor said she plans on majoring in early childhood education, noting that Ashland has a great campus and great education program overall, which was the reason for her choice to commit.
