User Experience
Unboxing the Curtain Lights was relatively simple. You just have to be careful about untangling the actual curtain. I left the lights wrapped up until I took them outside to hang. I want to back track for a minute. When these lights arrived, we weren’t sure where we were going to install them.
They can be used indoors, but we didn’t really have a completely blank wall to hang them on. So, we opted to install them outside on a blank wall of our carport. The carport was a new installation and the wall we installed the curtain on wasn’t available last Christmas (it was an add-on after the holidays). The wall was like a blank canvas and it was ideal for the installation.
A couple of months ago, we installed the Govee Permanent Lights Prism around the front soffit of our house. So, adding the Curtain Lights in was ideal because the two installations can complement each other. The Curtain Lights comes with a fixed mounting bar, which attaches to a surface using the adhesive that is pre-installed on the bar.
The bottom of the curtain strands are secured with a clear plastic strap that connects to each bead at the bottom of the strand. This helps them from getting tangled in high winds. Govee also includes some screws so that you can secure the curtain, but since I was installing on to a metal carport, I really wasn’t able to use the provided hardware.
As soon as I got the string lights hung up, I connected them to the Govee app, which we already had setup, and our WiFi. Once they were connected, I was able to change the colors and scene of the lights. Since it was close enough to Christmas, we decided to use the Candy Cane Scene on both our house and the Curtain. It’s a brilliant display and extremely bright. It’s very visible from down the street and we love that we can change the entire setup season-to-season.

They delivered the bright, animated look we were hoping for without the usual frustration that comes with seasonal decorating in unpredictable weather.
