HILTON, N.Y. — A bus traveled all the way from Mexico to Hilton on Friday, bringing 16 dogs for adoption.
Local nonprofit Wags and Wings organized the effort, rescuing neglected street dogs in Mexico and finding them forever homes in Western New York.
Cathy Lepp, a supporter of the program, adopted three dogs through Wags and Wings.
“This is the largest group of dogs that have ever come in at once. So, it’s just really neat to be a part of it,” said Lepp.
According to the Wags and Wings website, millions of dogs roam the streets in Mexico, and are treated poorly by strangers.
Lepp expressed how great it is what Wags and Wings does.
“I think it’s amazing! I can’t believe these people drove in the bus with all these dogs from Mexico,” Lepp said.
