Bonnie Blue’s endorsement of Nigel Farage won’t end well

The official line is: “We did say we are fighting for every vote…”, but it’s entertaining to imagine the mood at Reform UK HQ when news of their latest celebrity advocate broke.

Hot on the high heels of trying to attract the female vote by launching the “Women for Reform” campaign, adult content creator Bonnie Blue is one endorsement Nigel Farage is presumably less than thrilled about (in fact, it’s hard to think of anybody who would be more alienating).

In a piece for The Spectator, Blue – whose real name is Tia Ballinger and who has just been released from prison in Bali after being held on alleged porn offences (the star has to pay a £10 fine and is being deported) – began by admitting that she is not knowledgeable about politics.

She went on to say that what she did know, however, is that the UK “is very messed up… Reform has sensible positions on immigration and inheritance tax, so I stand with Farage,” she added.

It is hard for that sentence not to conjure up a mental image of Farage slowly inching away from Blue if the pair ever met; a rictus grin on his face, wild panic in his eyes.

In August, Reform’s attempt to lure in the ladies got off to an excellent start when Dame Andrea Jenkyns, Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire, declared herself “proud to be one of Farage’s fillies.” This was a nod to the similarly reductive “Blair’s babes” and “Cameron’s Cuties”. How better to kick off a women’s movement within a party than by reminding voters that in politics, the fairer sex are endlessly patronised and objectified? Keep calm and carry on, eh, lads?

Pre-Bonnie Blue, Reform’s popularity with women was already growing. Recent polling shows that the number of women considering pledging their support for Farage’s party has doubled from 12 per cent to 24 per cent since the 2024 election. The party has also gained 14 percentage points among women since 2024, with the strongest supporters being Gen X, aged 45 to 60. So, will Blue coming out for Reform change anything?

It’s complicated. In her Channel 4 Documentary, 1000 Men and Me: The Bonnie Blue Story, which follows her stunt to have sex with 1057 men in 12 hours, Blue claimed that she has no tragic backstory, no hidden trauma, not even “daddy issues” over the biological father she has never met. She suggested that perhaps her brain works differently from other people’s, which enables her to detach from her emotions – hence the glee she apparently takes in trolling the very women who passionately dislike her. But it’s those same women who may decide the next election.

Describing how she purposely posts “rage-bait” videos purely to provoke them, Blue happily explains that being hated is very good for business. The more women are infuriated by her – especially to the point where they rant about it on social media – the more their husbands, boyfriends, sons and nephews will Google her and engage with her content. It almost makes you wonder if aligning herself with Farage is simply multi-platform trolling.

Still, this master manipulator, lauded as a “marketing genius” by her publicist in the documentary, is nobody’s fool. She knows how much attention affiliating herself with any political party will attract, let alone the most controversial one, led by a figure as notorious as she is. This is rage-bait for a whole new audience, many of whom may not have known about her before. How’s that for raising brand awareness?

Still, it may well backfire. It’s pretty obvious to me that if it really is middle-aged, middle England women who decide elections, her support means Farage and his fillies are toast.

Could it be that she is actually double bluffing? Making an extremely self-aware false endorsement which benefits her personally, but also saves the country from a future in which Farage is Prime Minister? Is there a surprising scenario in which some of us become extremely thankful for “heroic” Bonnie Blue? If so, it will be interesting to see how she monetises gratitude.
