Police have filed a chargesheet against a Bangladesh 'A' team cricketer for alleged repeated sexual assault. The cricketer Tofael Ahmed Raihan has been accused of having assaulted young women after promising to marry them.

Police have filed a chargesheet against one of the cricketers from the Bangladesh A team, as the pace bowling all-rounder Tofael Ahmed Raihan has been accused of sexually assaulting young women under the pretence of marrying them.
Sub-inspector Md Samiul Islam of the Gulshan Police Station had said on Thursday that the chargesheet was filed under Section 9(1) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
“The charge sheet has been filed under Section 9(1) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act," Islam was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. The Investigators have gathered evidence, which includes the statement from the woman, hotel booking records and even medical records that support the allegations.
Several women alleged Tofael Ahmed Raihan sexually exploited them
The court is set to review the chargesheet, and the hearing is scheduled to start on the 30th of December. The case documents have clearly revealed that the women were contacted by the alleged cricketer on social media. Supposedly, they met through Facebook and started a relationship immediately.
The conversations on Messenger developed into what the woman believed was a romantic relationship, and the conversations continued as the cricketer promised to marry her. She also alleged that back on January 31st, Tofael took her to a hotel in Gulshan and sexually assaulted her.
She claimed that such things had happened several times, and later, he refused to marry her, which is when she filed a complaint against him on the 1st of August, accusing him of sexual violence.
Tofael continued to play for Bangladesh A with anticipatory bail
Back in September, one of Bangladesh's High Courts had granted him an anticipatory bail and instructed him to surrender to the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal after the bail period ended. The police report also mentions a violation of this court order.
During this period of anticipatory bail, he travelled alongside the Bangladesh A team to Hong Kong, where they played in a six-a-side tournament, and he represented the team in a national shirt. The case is now being dealt with seriousness, and the court proceedings are awaited.
Also, the BCB's move on this issue would be awaited, as several such incidents have emerged within the Bangladesh Cricket team and their board over the last year.
