Ankara, Dec. 9 (SANA) Syria’s national powerlifting team continued its strong performance at the Asian Powerlifting Championship for men and women, held in Turkey, raising its total to 44 medals.
On the third day of competition, the team earned 21 additional medals.In the men’s 83 kg category, Ayham Barghouth won a bronze medal in the deadlift.Ali Qabandi, competing in the Masters 2 (83 kg) division, secured four gold medals across the three lifts and the overall total.
In the Masters 1 (83 kg) category, Fahd Abu Sajeda took silver in the squat, silver in the bench press, gold in the deadlift, and gold for the overall total.Meanwhile, Omar al-Masri, competing in Masters 1 (93 kg), won bronze in the squat, gold in the bench press, silver in the deadlift, and silver overall.
In the women’s events, Sahar Azzam claimed four gold medals in the Masters 1, 54 kg category, while Esraa al-Masri earned four bronze medals in the women’s 63 kg division.
