Cupertino, California’s Enna O’Young has announced her verbal commitment to the admission process* at Yale University for the 2027-28 school year. She confirmed to SwimSwam:

O’Young is a junior at Archbishop Mitty High School. She recently moved from the club team Quicksilver Swimming to Santa Clara Swim Club. A breaststroke/IM specialist, we named her one of the “Best of the Rest” recruits on our Way Too Early list of top girls’ swimmers in the high school class of 2027.
O’Young competed in the 100/200 breast and 200 IM at Winter Juniors West, and again at Roseville Sectionals, where she placed 12th in the 100 breast (1:04.65), 6th in the 200 breast (2:19.23), and 16th in the 200 IM (2:10.04). Her best times in those events come from her freshman season at the 2024 CIF-Central Coast Section Championships. There, she was runner-up in the breast (1:02.15) and 12th in the IM (2:04.16). A few days later, at the Post-CCS SCY and LCM Senior Meet, she logged lifetime bests in the 200 breast (2:14.14) and 100 fly (58.96).
This past summer, O’Young had strong LCM showings at Sacramento Futures and Summer Junior Nationals. In Sacramento, she came in 3rd in the 100 breast (1:12.33) and 5th in the 200 breast (2:37.02). She clocked a PB in the 200 and was just .31 off her lifetime best (from the 2024 version of the same meet) in the 100. In Irvine, O’Young swam the 50/100/200 breaststrokes and went a best time in the 50 (34.36).
With two years to go before heading to New Haven, O’Young is already fast enough to score in the ‘A’ finals of the 100 breast and 200 breast and the ‘C’ final of the 400 IM at the Ivy League Women’s Championships. Her 200 IM time would be just outside scoring range for the Bulldogs (it took 2:03.15 to earn a second swim at the 2025 conference meet). She will join swimmers Sasha Karafin, Chloe Meyer-Blohm, and Lacey Strachan and diver Mollie Gullick in the Yale class of 2031.

The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.
