The deal between Surrey County Cricket Club (SCCC) and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has been finalised, and Oval Invincibles has been officially named MI London.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had commenced the sale of The Hundred franchises last year, and RIL had acquired a 49% stake for 123 million pounds (INR 1327 crore at the time of purchase).
MI London enters The Hundred
With this, RIL has stakes in six cricket franchises. Mumbai Indians (Indian Premier League and Women’s Premier League), MI Cape Town (SA20), MI New York (Major League Cricket), MI Emirates (ILT20), and now MI London (The Hundred).
“We’re pleased to have reached an agreement with the Reliance team over our partnership in the Hundred franchise team. Reliance bring a significant depth of cricket and business expertise and have had great success with their franchise teams in India and around the world – there’s no doubt that they are here to win.
