Even the most supportive partners don't always see eye to eye on everything, and Jon Pardi’s wife, Summer, is no different. She’s stood by the country star through tours and hit songs, but there’s one track she just can’t get on board with — and Pardi recalls her reaction clearly.
During a recent interview on Taste of Country Nights, the singer shared which of his songs Summer isn’t a fan of.
“There was this one song called ‘Tied One On’ — it’s rowdy, honky-tonkin’ — she really did not like that one,” Pardi revealed.
When asked why she disliked it so much, Pardi explained, “I think it’s because during the second verse, it was actually, ‘Do you got a girlfriend?’ and I say, ‘No!’”
Understandable, right? However, Pardi admitted he included that lyric for single listeners enjoying a night out. “They’re out there having a good time, and you gotta sing for the people,” he said.
For context, “Tied One On” was released in 2019. By that time, Pardi and Summer had already been together for a couple of years, having met in 2017. Their connection started through a mutual friend of Pardi’s mother, who was also one of Summer’s hairstyling clients.
"Long story short, Jon's mom sent him my number," Summer told People in 2020. "He was performing in my hometown, and he called me and invited me to the show. I was in Las Vegas so I said, 'Maybe next time you’re in town.' Obviously, I wasn't aware of how tour life worked so he came back with, 'How about I fly you to Denver next week?' ”
Despite initial reservations, both felt an instant connection. “Summer was love at first sight for the first time ever in my life," Jon said. "She was the first girl I've ever dated where I felt like she had my back and that we really are a team.”
They exchanged vows in 2020 and have since started a family. In February 2023, they welcomed their first daughter, Presley, followed by their second daughter, Sienna Grace, in July 2024. Sharing her excitement on Instagram, Summer wrote, "What a dream, we love you sweet girl.”
