Jessica Simpson and her estranged husband, Eric Johnson, are putting on a united front to celebrate the holidays with their kids amid their separation.
The singer, 45, opened up to TMZ in an interview published on Friday, November 28, about spending Thanksgiving with Johnson, 46, and their three children: daughter Maxwell, 13, son Ace, 12, and daughter Birdie, 6.
“We were all together yesterday over at my mom’s. We always go to my mom’s,” Simpson said, insisting that “of course” Johnson was involved in the festivities. “It’s my kids’ father. And all their grandparents [were there] — they have a lot of them.”
Of her priorities, she added: “Family first.”

When asked to offer her advice for couples going through a divorce during the holiday season, Simpson replied, “No matter what, your kid is half the other person, and always have the respect in what you say around them so they can always have a good perspective on it. Unconditional love’s important.”
Simpson confirmed her separation from Johnson in January after 10 years of marriage.
“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” she said in a statement at the time. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
Nearly one year later, neither Simpson nor Johnson has filed for divorce.
In August, the pair were spotted traveling to Las Vegas to see her sisterAshlee Simpson’s Las Vegas residency. The following month, Jessica explained her amicable public reunion with her estranged husband.
“We are all a big, happy family, so it’s important for all of us,” she told E! News in September. “We wouldn’t have missed Ashlee, are you kidding me? It was such a moment.”
Despite her ongoing camaraderie with Johnson, Jessica has expressed her willingness to date other people, even sharing her preferences for a potential partner with Extra in October.
“I think I’m into younger men at the moment,” she noted. “When you’re newly separated … I feel like younger guys kinda like the confidence of an older woman, I’m discovering.”
