The USS Abraham Lincoln quietly departed from San Diego last week with the Navy releasing little information about its new deployment.
The nonprofit U.S Naval Institute reported that the nuclear-powered supercarrier departed Nov. 21 with Carrier Air Wing 9 from Naval Air Station Lemoore and the guided-missile cruiser USS Frank E. Peteresen Jr. from Pearl Harbor.
In recent years the Navy has chosen not to announce many carrier deployments, though it still publicizes the giant warships’ homecomings.
The Lincoln returned for a 162-day deployment in December 2024 and was undergoing routine maintenance and training at Naval Air Station North Island.
The new deployment received recognition from former Vice President Mike Pence, who posted a congratulatory message on X.
