Layne Smith has verbally committed to attend Savannah College of Art and Design to join their class of 2030.
l’ve been so excited to announce my commitment to Savannah College of Art and Design and the @scadswimming team! So grateful for my parents, coaches and teammates who have made these past 11 years mean so much to me Go Bees!
Smith attends Coral Shores High School and swims at the Florida Keys Swim Club. She recently swam at the 2025 FHSAA State Championship meet, finishing 19th in the 500 freestyle with a season best 5:15.17. This was slightly off the performance she had at the 2024 Championships, when she finished 16th in the 200 free, setting a personal best 1:56.50 in prelims, and 15th in the 500 at 5:12.91
At the FGC Senior Championships in March, she set new season best times in the 200 free (1:59.47), the 500 free (5:11.19), and the 100 IM (1:06.30).
Smith’s Personal Best Times SCY:
200 free- 1:56.50 500 free- 5:09.74 1650 free- 17:39.89SCAD is an NAIA school in the Sun Conference, where they finished 3rd at last year’s Championships behind St. Thomas and Keiser.
Smith will walk onto relays as a freshman, with her 200 freestyle time coming in at 3rd on the current team behind freshman Lena Gerl and senior Nikki Hahn. In the 500 free, her best time ranks her 2nd behind Gerl, and her 1650 free would be 1st on this year’s team.
